Limitations of Green Architecture in China;


logon shares it’s sustainable design philosophy designed for the Chinese market


Shanghai, China, March 16th 2011 – logon Creative Director, Frank Krueger and the logon lab, R&D Director Pascal Hartmann lecture “The limits of Green Architecture & the philosophy of sustainable architecture” at the Green Building Workshop Series held on March 10th was attended by industry experts, architects and industry media.

The lecture specifically focused on current and future challenges and opportunities both property developers and local governments are facing in China’s real estate market. Although there is clearly a “strong need for Green Architecture” in China due to limited resources, Mr. Krueger noted, due to China’s construction market conditions and the high costs of green architecture standards, the term is becoming simply a “label”. logon researched sustainable design methodology for the Chinese market look to tackle local chinese conditions such as; low construction costs; lack of green materials, local law enforcement and developer incentives. “Through knowledge intensive design, we aim to make every project more sustainable to fit the local mass-market conditions”, said Krueger. “Energy consumption can be reduced by fifty percent simply via design in using tools such as; end-user group definitions matched to project positioning, local climate studies and other logon methodologies such as the use of a new German-Chinese sustainable design software developed for the China market. “Our goal to deliver a sustainable design for every project whilst keeping within the project time-schedule and original budget; at no extra cost to our clients”, Krueger concluded.

Green Building Workshop Series is organized by econet China, The German Energy Center and College & BBS China; the platform aims to share German building solutions, standards, market tools & technical solutions in the field of energy efficiency, green buildings.
